Since the Kabuki Theatre set was only seen from one view, front on, it was built in a scenic format with top hung over lapping ceiling beams and an open top. To save on the number of puppets required for shooting, and also the amount of set to be built, the wings of the theatre were shot in passes with the camera movement repeated and the second pass (moving the wing on the right around to sit on the left side) stitched in to the first in post production.
The black and white images are visualisations I created in 3D Vectorworks to match to a painted concept and 1:1 maquette already developed by the team and approved by Wes.
All construction drawings were then taken directly from the 3D file.
